OOC (Out-Of-Character)
Discord: altairaa
OOC Age Range: 18+
Activity Scale: I work 4-5 days a week, 8-10 hrs. On the days I work I can get on for a couple hours a day, but most of my activity will probably be on my days off.
Timezone and availability: CST, I work in a restaurant and so my schedule is different every week. I always have Sundays and Mondays off, but the third day I sometimes get off a week is random. I work evenings, so on the days I do work I won't be online after 4pm, but I should be back by 11pm on weekdays, and 1am on Fridays and Saturdays. I will sometimes be online in the hours before I have to go to work after I wake up.
Do you have any punishment history on RoleplayHub? If so, please state your punishments: I was banned once on SRP 6 years ago, I was twelve at the time. Here's my ban appeal thread. Having to put this on every application I make in Roleplay Hub is so embarrassing.
Do you understand that the Keeper role is solely an in-character role, and that its permissions can only be used for in-character purposes?: Yes, I understand.
What experience do you have with roleplaying?: I've been roleplaying on and off for as long as I can remember. Started off with warrior cats roleplay on the playground in elementary school. I loved minecraft roleplays when they were more popular in 2017/2018. I watched a lot of Aphmau's work. In 2017, my friend introduced me to SRP, and I was active on that server for about a year. After I got banned at the end of 2018, I never really went back even after my unban. I moved towards discord roleplays, and was in a lot of discord servers for roleplay in 2019. My interest for roleplay lessened as I got older, but I've recently found a new burst of interest, which brought me here.
What is your motivation for applying for Keeper?: I'd like to have a more important role in roleplay. I know I can handle the Keeper role and its responsibilities, and there are changes I'd like to make, and would love to be the voice of the Dust-Boys. I haven’t been playing on the server for super long, but I have very quickly become passionate about it. I believe it has so much potential and I’m excited to see it grow.
What are your plans for if you become a keeper?: I think the first thing I want to do is update the roster in the discord, make sure I know who is and isn’t on my team. To my understanding, trying to provide upkeep on a roster may not be entirely realistic as players don't lose their job ranks for any period of inactivity, and a roster could very easily be much longer than anticipated. Instead, I'd like to keep a roster of every Dust-Boy that has logged on in the last 2 months. I could do a weekly or biweekly update of the roster depending on how often it needs updating. I'd also like to do a "Dust-Boy of the month" award.
I want to encourage dust-boys to do their job. Honestly, I’m still planning on ways to give incentive, but here’s one idea I’ve come up with; I’d like to encourage their work by asking them to use a discord channel I’d create in the server called “mining missions” where they can write down what they got, and how much of it along with a screenshot. This of course wouldn’t be required, but I would give incentive by various rewards. The only problem with this idea is I have yet to decide what these rewards might be. Maybe a fully maxed out pickaxe to whoever worked the most that week. But this would also tie into the Dust-Boy of the month award.
IC (In-Character)
Character Age: 20
Please give a brief description of your character’s personality: Altaira can be a bit of a hard head, but she has good intentions. She is a hard worker, and loves to feel like she helps in her community and is valued. Altaira will often avoid hard feelings with hard work. She’s not much of an emotional person, but is capable of empathy and knowing when to apologize. But she’s probably not the best person to ask for emotional advice. She’s very good at picking up something broken, and figuring out how to fix it. She’s smart, and good about calling people out. Altaira has a very strong personality, which makes her a good leader. She is quite witty as well, quick to make a sarcastic comment or a corny joke.
Tell us why your character would be a great pick for this leadership position: Altaira has a lot of leadership skills, able to push when she knows a Glader needs it, and when to let them rest. She knows how to empathize, but is also good at separating her emotions from herself. She’s smart, and is good at bringing people together with her humor.
What activities would you host for your job members?: A sort of egg hunt would be fun, but instead of an egg a couple ancient debris could be hidden in the mine, and whoever finds them first gets to keep them. I would also like to host occasional New Dusty celebrations, where the guests of honor are the latest Dust boys. Friendly competitions about who mined the most amount of coal, redstone, or gold that month would be fun as well.
How do you see your job and its role in the Glade?: Every job in the Glade is important in its own unique way, and Dust-Boys aren’t an exception. It’s our job to supply the glade with the means to make weapons and armor to protect themselves in the maze, as well as the supplies to make tools that are used in most Glader’s jobs. Without us, the Glade could be left defenseless. Without us, the Gladers could be eating all their food raw if it wasn’t for the coal we supplied. But the same could be said for any job, without the Slicers or Track-Hoes we’d be starving, and without the cooks we wouldn’t have feasts or hot meals. Without the Brick-Nicks, none of us would have tools or armor of any kind, and so on. Dust-Boys are as important to the Glade as everybody else, and I only aim to improve their efficiency and ensure everyone is healthily supplied.
When sanctioning other Gladers, what would make the difference between an oral warning, the slammer, and banishment?: Oral warnings would be deserved for brief altercations, maybe people being mad at each other and harsh words are exchanged. But as long as no weapons were drawn and no physical aggression was shown, it would only be an oral warning. If the altercation went further, and the Gladers were to physically attack each other then both would be sent to The Slammer. Physical altercations are not tolerated in the Glade. Without unity and sense we are no better than The Banished. Banishment is the strictest punishment in the Glade, given to those who are deemed as unsafe and not trusted. If a Glader were to pull a weapon on another, with intent to maim, kill, or critically injure then a banishment is due.
A Glader has been stealing from the storage, how do you react?: I would first try and figure out why the Glader was stealing. Out of greed? Were they not getting enough food at night? These questions could be answered by asking those who know the Glader, by asking the Glader themselves, or thinking on their past actions within the community. If the Glader was stealing from storage out of greed, then I would have a meeting with the other Keepers to decide what to do with them. I would personally vote for a week in The Slammer, with only water and bread as meals. This may seem harsh, but order is necessary for the living organ the Glade is. If we let people think this kind of behavior isn't met with a clapback, then they'll think it's okay to do the same. If the Glader were to be stealing because they weren’t getting enough food at night, I would encourage them to simply talk to the cooks, and that once everybody was fed at least one meal then people were allowed to go back for seconds. That you are able to take food from the chest, but to avoid taking more than a stack a day.
A Glader has been giving precious resources to the Banished, how do you react?: I would call a Gathering with the other Keepers, and I would personally vote for this Glader to be banished as well. They’re clearly friends, so why don’t they join them? Helping the Banished, those that wish us mortal harm, is an intolerable offense in my book.
