Activity Scale (How many days a week do you play on average?):
I play on a daily basis (7 days a week), with at least an hour on busy days.
I am strongly active on the discord as well.

Timezone and Availability
Korea Standard Time
(KST, UTC+9)
-
I work afternoons (12pm - 3pm) from Monday to Thursday, with few exceptions.
I live alone, so I can adapt easily if my presence is required online (meetings, etc.)

Do you have a punishment history on RoleplayHub (SchoolRP, MazeRP, or Creative)? If so, please state your punishments
None across all RolePlay Hub servers.

Do you understand that the Keeper role is solely an in-character role, and that its permissions can only be used for in-character purposes?
Yes. I also understand that any metagaming or use of permissions with an OOC purpose will result in OOC sanctions.

What experience do you have with roleplaying?
I have roleplayed for 9 to 10 years so far.
-
I began roleplaying on a Minecraft creative server, from building many roleplaying environments to managing the other players (5 to 15 players on average, excluding myself). After this server somewhat died, I proceeded to online roleplaying (Instagram, Discord) with a system strongly focused on P2L (Play to Lose) and character development: I progressively moved on to mastering sessions, acting as multiple NPCs to guide the plot around players’ actions and make them have their part in the story.
-
In College, I discovered tabletop roleplaying and Live Action Role-Playing (LARP).
I have experience in playing characters, NPCs, being a game master, and writing my own scenarios from scratch (maps, characters, objectives, etc.). Based on my experience, the key point in roleplaying is that it is a story written with others. As such, I developed my roleplay over time to have other players feel included, valued, and make this our story rather than just mine!
-
I have been active on RPH for an entire year as I started SchoolRP in August 2023 and joined MazeRP upon official server release in December 2023. As such, I am familiar with both roleplay systems and can anticipate misunderstandings coming from server differences.

What is your motivation for applying for Keeper?
Med-Jack has always been my favorite job on the server, and I have kept being active even when player count went down, purely out of interest for brewing. I know the activity doesn’t look that entertaining from an outsider perspective, but it looks like my brain is just addicted to that brewing bubble sound.
-
As I have a deep experience in the job and reached the second highest Alchemy level, I look forward to guiding IC and OOC other Med-Jacks through the job with my earned knowledge.
So far, I have already written a complete job guide accessible on the Med-Jack discord, so that beginners can quickly go over the basics: I plan to update it soon, as practices evolve over time. I do not plan to replace roleplay opportunities (teaching, guiding) with this guide.

IC (In-Character)

Character Name
“Swan Meilhan, nice to meet you!”

Character Age
“I should be at least around 18 years old.”

Please give a brief description of your character’s personality
Swan is an earnest worker, passionate about brewing as well as tending to others. He is absurdly calm when it comes to troublesome Gladers yet can appear dense with simple jokes… Reason being that, out of habit, he prefers taking everything at face value to avoid ever dismissing a Glader’s suffering.
This makes him someone always looking for alternatives and out of the box solutions when things go awry, ensuring that there are as few casualties as possible.
“See, I’d rather look like a fool than to see you suffer…”

Tell us why your character would be a great pick for this leadership position

Alchemy skills
First and foremost, Swan excels in alchemy. Being the second highest in experience, he has progressively gained this knowledge over the span of his months/years within the Glade, during which he has always looked out for new Med-Jacks.
“Oh, I haven’t seen you around the lab. Are you a new Med-Jack, or did we simply never met until now?”
-
Guiding experience
Swan already explored the teaching path on many occasions, usually thanks to his knowledge of advanced potions and the way they work. As he considers knowledge to be one of the greatest tools, he makes sure that any useful information is passed along to the other Med-Jacks. Usually explaining these in person, he also writes journals so that the information lasts.
“And remember, advanced potions are unstable. When brewing these, please make sure to add combustible powder before your main ingredient or your concoction will completely lose its efficiency.”
-
Community beliefs
As a fervent believer in the Glade’s collaborative mindset, Swan always put the Glade and its people before his own interest or even grievances. This regularly leads him to act against restraining initiatives which have been taken without prior concerting and thus feel deeply unfair to him.
In the past, it has notably resulted in him still providing brewages for free as per Glade’s sharing rule, despite other jobs requiring payments for their productions.
“Should I also ask the wounded for payment as they bleed out in front of our office? Take your payment back along with those potions for your run. Health has no price.”
-
Glade understanding
Med-Jacks are known to be one of the jobs interacting the most with others due to their various needs when it comes to materials. When the Glade was at its lowest, he made the step to venture into other jobs to cater to the Glade’s needs, despite feeling like he belonged in the lab. These few months made him much more aware of how other jobs function on the inside, further developing his relationships. This understanding makes him able to facilitate his exchanges with other jobs by getting straight to the point.
“Well, while Haste concoctions are great to get a grasp of the advanced potions, there is no need for you to ship them to the Mine. You see, our fellow Dust-Boys are naturally efficient when it comes to mining, so these would feel like a sip of water to them.”
-
Maze awareness
After numerous expeditions throughout the Maze, Swan has got himself familiarized with the main Maze routes: Door-to-Door running; paths from each Door to the Outer Rim; Section-to-Section routes; Trial accesses. Should his expertise be needed out there, or would he wish to organize activities involving this hostile environment, he has the capacity to safely lead Gladers to a specific point, knows multiple locations to spend the night in relative safety, and is able to make his way back to the Glade. He has also explored alternatives to his routes in case his expedition members have difficulties passing through specific obstacles.
“Let’s use the alternative route: it might take more time, but it’ll be easier. We’re leaving no one behind.”

What activities would you host for your job members?

First things first, I would not host the same activities for all Med-Jacks: those will be based on their experience. Naturally, some would still be for all Med-Jacks to freely attend. Instead of an Alchemy proficiency-based evaluation for experience, I will attach checklists for each activity so that Med-Jacks can self-evaluate whether they can participate or not. Examples are below (one includes a checklist example as well, for reference):
-
[ Introduction-level Activities ]

Lab tour & habits: a tour of the Med-Jack lab and its storage, including a presentation of what each container is used for, along with good habits to have. From setting up brewing stands to filling the pantry!
Who can attend this? If you need to check multiple containers before finding the right one or don’t understand why brewing stands and the pantry look the way they are, this activity is for you!
Delivery Quiz: an explanation of what job provides what materials, finishing in a quiz to check up what they remembered
-
[ Regular-level Activities ]

BeetleBlade Hunt: a small expedition within close range to the Doors to observe how BeetleBlades behave, as well as methods to collect their shells. Baggers included!
Patient Management: roleplay simulations to deal with troublesome patients. From the drunk to the pain sensitive, including the distressed and dangerous kinds.
-
[ Advanced-level Activities ]

South-West Grotto Expedition: Luke’s quest is one that many Med-Jack know about, yet few managed to complete. With the assistance of both Runners and Baggers, a one-day expedition to South-West Grotto would be organized to guide those who have yet to complete this quest.
Wounded Extraction: along with Runners, it is an exercise which consists of retrieving a dummy with a given location and to bring it back to the Glade in optimal conditions for treatment.
-
[ General Activities ]

Crisis Training: a run-down on the do’s and don’ts during a Glade raid (Banished or Griever), followed by a practice so that they can face a large amount of casualties all of a sudden. One most Med-Jacks know about the drill, a short mock crisis could be randomly triggered to prepare for the unexpected factor.
Treatment practice: this involves many aspects of treatment, based on the Med-Jacks’ personal skills and preferences. It mainly includes but it is not limited to: cleaning, bandaging, and suturing.
Banished Med-Jack Study: the Banished Med-Jack is an infamous person, known for his underhanded tricks. With the assistance of Gladers who fought him in the past, I would go over his medical arsenal to allow Med-Jacks to both study it for research, and know how to treat wounds linked to it, as they are quite… special.
Med-Jack Bonding: all seriousness and training aside, let’s also have some fun! These events would be organized more freely based on our current desires, and would be seasonal. Afternoon bathing in the lake, midnight bonfire discussions, or homestead hide and seeks are on the bucket list!
-
[ Note ]
Inclusion of other jobs (Baggers, Runners) is solely for roleplay purposes as I am able to lead these activities by myself if necessary (guiding and protecting). I do however wish to include other jobs when it is relevant.

How do you see your job and its role in the Glade?

To say that Med-Jacks are a key role in the Glade would be both obvious and unnecessary. As we all know, every single Glade job is fundamental to keep a balance and survive in the Maze.
I believe we are characterized by the following elements.
-
Universal production & delivery
Med-Jacks are the end of the Glade production loop, as they use materials provided by other jobs and their production is used by all Gladers. This makes it a polyvalent job within the Glade as they interact with all of the other jobs to obtain required materials, and all Gladers are susceptible to need their potions.
-
Complex activities
In terms of pure activity, Med-Jacks brew potions and other support items such as grief serum, bandages or golden apples. This makes Med-Jacks one of the few jobs where the production process is more complex, as it involves memorizing many recipes and efficiently managing the storage to keep things well balanced among the numerous materials stored.
Even though most Gladers show up to the lab before expeditions and usually treat their wounds by themselves while in the Maze, I would expect Med-Jacks to be able to properly respond to wounded Gladers and provide appropriate treatment. It means that they shouldn’t throw a bunch of bandages in their face or spill some antibiotics, but rather take the time to thoroughly tend to their wounds. This involves flesh wounds, but also Gladers in mental distress: few would be mentally sane after mere months in the Maze.
-
Expedition support
Last but not least, Med-Jacks are a precious addition for Maze runs as they have a polyvalent kit, able to provide many support items. Based on my past experiences, it often comes to relief when expedition members notice that one or multiple Med-Jacks are attending, as they no longer need to worry about emergency treatment or finding a spare Grief Serum when things go awry.
This requires having Med-Jacks who are familiar with the Maze as it is preferable that they keep up with the group’s pace, down to the deepest parts of the Maze. A good Med-Jack is a Med-Jack that is alive.
-
It is rather obvious that my planned activities so far are deeply linked to the way I perceive the job as a whole. Many are directly aimed at training Med-Jacks to better tend to Gladers, so that as many lives as possible can be saved. Let’s do our job well, shall we?

As a Keeper, you will have authority over Gladers. How would you react to these hypothetical scenarios?

When sanctioning other Gladers, what would make the difference between an oral warning, the slammer, and banishment?

It truly comes down to consequences.
-
If an action is counterproductive, bothers or inconveniences others, then an oral warning is given. The goal here is to educate the Glader about their actions, as they might not understand how they're being a problem. It is also to prevent them from going any further, showing that Keepers are already reacting.
If someone has been directly or indirectly harmed yet can fully recover from the situation, the Slammer is the expected punishment. The length depends on how difficult it would be to recover from it.
Unfortunately, it happens that Gladers take actions with irreversible consequences. As there is no leniency when it comes to the survival of the community, banishment is the only option in that situation.
-
These apply even if Gladers had a good intent while transgressing the rules. In fact, transgressing rules on purpose would only result in harsher punishment. No matter the situation, I would always have a chat with the Glader to understand their actions.
Here in the Maze, we can’t tolerate misconduct as it will affect everyone’s safety.

A Glader has been stealing from the storage, how do you react?

As mentioned previously, consequences matter a lot. The first thing to do would be to assess how many items were stolen, and what became of them. I will only go through cases where it is for a personal benefit, as resources being given to the Banished is completely another situation.
-
Minor stealing
Minor stealing refers to the most common occurrence of stealing. It is usually in small quantities, and doesn’t strongly affect the Glade. Naturally, an oral warning would be given along with an explanation of why it is important to keep resources for everyone. Communication is key!
However, should the stealing (even minor) become recurrent or organized over time, it would be considered as major stealing.
-
Major stealing
Major stealing refers to suddenly collecting large amounts from the storage, or a systematic and organized way of obtaining more resources than necessary. It shows neither understanding of the cooperative system, nor will to improve. I don’t like proceeding to sanctions without a dialogue so an attempt of understanding their motive would still happen, yet it will always result in punishment. A harsher sanction would thus be required, which involves the Slammer, up to banishment.

A Glader has been giving precious resources to the Banished, how do you react?

As I see it, there would be three main cases possible in this situation.
-
1 - Against the Glader’s will
This involves being stolen from after being assaulted, or threatened.
This first thing I would do is to assess the Glader’s physical and psychological state as it can be a traumatic event for them. After getting through, I would make a report to other Keepers including the time and location of the event, so that we can evaluate how much resources have been lost and eventual consequences. Last but not least, I would remind the Glader of the importance of running the Maze in groups, including enough Baggers to avoid similar situations from happening.
-
2 - On purpose, with the intent to help the Banished
This involves giving resources out of wanting to do a good deed.
As much as I understand the reasoning involved, it would result in an immediate Slammer punishment. Acknowledging that the punished Glader would feel like it is unfair, I would then proceed to have a discussion with them to explain thoroughly the importance of discussing these actions with the Keepers, because it can have many consequences for the Glade, especially if we are not aware of it.
-
3 - On purpose, with the intent to harm the Glade
This involves giving resources for the sole purpose of putting the Glade at a disadvantage.
There is no leniency when it comes to this case, and the Glader would be immediately escorted to the Slammer as Keepers would be called in for a meeting to discuss banishment. As I would like to do in any situation, I would still have an exchange with the Glader to better understand the situation and their motive.

Additional notes
All character quotes have been told IC at some point in the past (Swan did not magically change personalities just to fit a Keeper persona).
